Questions about dental veneers

When to use dental veneers?

Dental veneers are often confused with dental crowns. They may look similar, but they are not the same. There are differences between the two:

Dental veneers are smaller and cover less of the tooth than crowns. At Zenit Clinic, we use ultra-thin, state-of-the-art veneers that achieve a natural aesthetic result and do not require tooth preparation.

Veneers already require less tooth reduction than crowns, but at Zenit Clinic, we prioritize minimally invasive techniques for achieving veneer results.

Dental veneers are made from zirconia, porcelain, or composite (bonded directly to the tooth) and are an aesthetic solution when a patient wants to achieve a uniform smile, free of discoloration, or to address minor fractures in teeth.

Crowns can be made from various materials: zirconia, porcelain, porcelain and metal, or just metal. Crowns serve as both an aesthetic and functional solution.

Veneers are used on the front teeth, extending to the premolars. In contrast, crowns are used on all teeth in the mouth.

Las carillas dentales están fabricadas en zirconio, porcelana o composite (adheridas directamente al diente) y son una solución estética cuando el paciente desea lograr una sonrisa homogénea, libre de decoloración, o solucionar pequeñas fracturas en los dientes.

Crowns can be made from various materials: zirconia, porcelain, porcelain and metal, or just metal. Crowns serve as both an aesthetic and functional solution.

How do we place dental veneers?

The procedure for placing dental veneers is as follows:

First, we design the aesthetics of the patient’s mouth using a digital study, ensuring it harmonizes with the rest of their facial features. To do this, we take photographs, use computer applications, and create models of the patient’s mouth. This way, we can show the patient what the approximate result of their veneer treatment will look like.

Once the treatment has been agreed upon, the teeth are prepared, and a mold of the mouth is made to accurately and precisely fabricate the dental veneers.

When the veneers are ready, they will be bonded to the patient’s teeth, giving them their desired smile.

Smile Design: Digital Smile Design®

Digital Smile Design is a diagnostic and treatment planning tool, as well as a very effective means of communication between the dentist and the laboratory technician, as well as between the dentist and the patient.

With Digital Smile Design, we can perform a thorough diagnosis and treatment plan using a specific photographic series taken of the patient’s face and mouth, allowing us to design a new personalized smile for each case based on the patient’s age, gender, and facial characteristics.
