Questions about endodontics

What is conservative dentistry?

Endodontics, also known as root canal treatment, involves removing the pulp from the inside of the affected tooth using special tools. The root contents (blood vessels and nerves) are extracted, and the interior of the tooth is thoroughly cleaned. Afterwards, it is disinfected, dried, and filled with resin and a sealing cement to prevent empty spaces and the possibility of subsequent infections.

Conservative dentistry is the set of treatments that provide the necessary measures to preserve natural teeth and prevent the extraction of damaged teeth.

To keep teeth healthy and functional in the mouth for as long as possible, at ZENIT CLINIC, we advocate for minimally invasive treatments to prolong the lifespan of affected dental pieces.

Composite restorations

Thanks to composite restorations, the specialist can replace lost dental tissue due to decay or fractures. The treatment of cavities using composite fillings (commonly known as “fillings”) is a very common and straightforward dental restoration procedure.

The procedure begins by removing the affected dental tissue, cleaning the dental cavity, and then filling it with composite to ensure perfect chewing function.

Similarly, with this material, we can also restore a tooth after trauma, achieving the correct aesthetics and function of the tooth. These restorations are minimally invasive because they typically do not require the reduction of the tooth, so it does not lose structural strength.

Porcelain crowns. Porcelain crowns or caps are complete or partial coverings for the surface of teeth. They provide excellent aesthetic results and give the covered tooth strength and durability.

A crown is placed when the tooth is severely damaged and there is insufficient remaining tooth structure, either due to significant decay or in cases of individuals with aggressive oral habits (such as bruxism).

If possible, as an alternative to porcelain crowns, there are different types of dental veneers that offer various solutions.
